How Can I Overcome Hardness of the Heart, Feelings of Emptiness, and Weakness of Iman Despite Seeking Knowledge and Striving to Fear Allah?
Question: Asalamualykum Wa rahmatulahi Wa baraqatuhu, May Allah bless and reward you shaykh. My question is regarding the hardening of hearts and feeling empty. I have made alot of changes in my life, started seeking knowledge, changed my companionship to the righteous, and I strive to change myself and fear Allah in private and public. However, i constantly feel empty and like there is something i am doing wrong that I still can't quite put my finger on because despite doing whatever I can, i feel empty often and feel like my imaan is low and I want to increase it. What could be my issue and how can i change my situation? BarakAllah Feekum
Summary:
We advise the questioner to fear Allah, be patient with this trial, and not surrender to sadness and idleness. They should know that a believer may be afflicted with worry and grief despite being righteous and steadfast. Not every instance of sadness is caused by weak faith, magic, or the evil eye. They should combine adhkar, ruqyah, and dua with practical means such as staying active, working, keeping company with righteous people, and avoiding isolation. They should also consult a qualified physician if the matter continues, for seeking medical treatment is legislated and does not contradict reliance upon Allah.
